School Intervention Research

Welcome to the Chair of School-Based Intervention Research with a Focus on Special Educational Needs

The chair of School-Based Intervention Research with a focus on Special Educational Needs underpins the multi-perspective orientation of the Institute for Educational Research. Our research and teaching address educational-psychological and special educational subject areas, focusing on teaching quality and individual support.

We take a closer look at the role of teaching quality for student learning, how specific teaching methods relate to teaching quality, and how students can be supported individually depending on their learning needs. In this context, we also examine questions regarding the professionalization of teachers and the consequences for the implementation of promising approaches in the classroom.

Our methodological focus is on the design, implementation and evaluation of intervention and longitudinal studies in schools. In order to better understand the implementation and effects of teaching and learning arrangements, we use standardized questionnaires, video recordings of lessons and interviews with teachers.
